Welcome to an exciting new school year! I am looking forward to a wonderful year filled with lots of learning and success. This is my 19th year of teaching. Learning is a journey filled with lots of surprises and discoveries along the way.  My philosophy in education is to instill a love of life-long learning in my students. I am married with two children, a 20-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son. My favorite hobby is reading! Reading is like a journey where you paint the pictures as you read the words and learn new things along the way.  I look forward to working with everyone!

virtual learning activities

Good afternoon! As we are working virtually this week, please log into teams daily. First and second blocks will work on Duolingo until we get Imagine Learning set up. For third block, we will work on duolingo and readworks. Log in information for readworks is on the Teams page. Thank you!

Interventions

I have added an interventions tab on my page to assist students with any extra work they need. Details are listed on the page. This is a great website for helping students with reading comprehension. Also, there is audio available as well, in addition to questions with answers and written responses. This will help all students with reading and comprehension skills.

assignments for today

Good morning everyone! Many are experiencing internet difficulties today. Please make sure that you work on Duolingo (for those of you with an account) for at least 15 minutes. Take a picture of your progress and send it to me via email or take a screen shot and text it to 803-672-0516. Also, go to www.readworks.org and complete the articles assigned by your name. I will also be emailing additional assignments as well. Today's assignment is winter vocabulary (first and second block) and the analogies (third block). Everything is worth ten points. I will continue to meet with everyone in Teams as long as my internet is cooperating. Please reach out to me if you have any questions. Thank you!

participation

Greetings! We are well into our virtual learning platform at this time. I am aware that there are still some technology issues. Please call the office and let me know if I haven't yet been informed so that I can notate the information. I am excited to be working with everyone! Please make sure that your child participates when online and does the required assignments. If you have any questions at any time, you may email me at [email protected] or call/send a text to 803-672-0516. Thank you!

Week One complete!

Greetings! We are finishing our first week of virtual learning! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. My email address is [email protected]. I can also be reached via microsoft teams. Also, my google voice number is 803-672-0516. I am looking forward to another week of virtual learning! Next week, we will continue to practice our speaking skills. Also, we will begin practicing our reading skills virtually on readworks.org. Every student will have their own personal account with passages and questions to be completed. Our early language learners will be assigned their user id's and passwords for Duolingo for classrooms, which is a computerized program to help with language learning skills. In addition, our veteran English language learners will begin working on an autobiography essay. I will demonstrate how to use the writing process to develop a good essay. This will help students in all of their subjects. Again, please let me know if there are any questions/concerns. Thank you!
