Course Description
Art History 1 is a class for students taking art for the first time at the high school level. Students will create original art by exploring a variety of materials and developing beginning skills. Students will make connections to their world by studying art history and works of various artists using a text and art magazines. They will critique their own artwork and the artwork of others using established criteria. Techniques will include drawing, painting, sculpture and graphic design. Students are required to keep a portfolio for proficiency review
