English III (CP) (Period 3rd)

Course Description

English III CP students will critically examine several genres of American literature ranging from the early 1600s to the late 1900s to include fiction, literary nonfiction, poetry, and drama. Students will be expected to write organized and grammatically correct papers and essays that are persuasive, informational, narrative, descriptive and technical in nature. Students will also read classic American novels and plays, and write both creative and literature-based essays.

Because this is a college preparatory course, students are expected to perform at an elevated level, as this course is designed to prepare them for college-based instruction.
