RHHS Fundamentals of Aerospace "I-Drone" students and their instructor,
Dr. Terry Grant-Robinson, toured the Ridgeland airport on Thursday, August
29, to learn about careers in aviation. They were greeted by Mr. Richard
Dean, airport manager, who shared information on the airport's future
expansion plans, various types of planes/helicopters, operations, and rental
fee for aircraft hangars. Students were able to explore several small planes
and hang gliders.
They even saw a helicopter land with a huge motorized saw attached which
is used to cut tree tops along powerlinesfor Dominion Energy Company. Mr.
Dean stated that students asked some very good questions and he
welcomed them to come back. The career activity was coordinator by Ms.
Robino, Workbased Learning Coordinator in the Guidance Dept. If you know
someone at a worksite our students should visit, please notify Ms. Robino or
Mr. Simmons.
