No tricks, just treats! Ms. Woodberry’s Functional Academics class brought a little extra sweetness to RSAE through a hands-on baking experience that was about much more than cupcakes.
Students worked together to prepare and bake cupcakes from scratch, putting important functional and life skills into action. From measuring ingredients and mixing batter to following directions, practicing kitchen safety, and preparing their finished treats, students had the opportunity to learn by doing.
Activities like these help students strengthen independence, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and everyday skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. And the best part? They got to share the fruits of their labor with RSAE staff!
A big shoutout to Ms. Woodberry and her students for reminding us that some of life's sweetest lessons come from working together, trying something new, and sharing with others.
