Bostick enjoys internship with Washington River Protection Solutions

Tori Bostick, 2015 graduate of Ridgeland-Hardeeville High, had an amazing experience while serving as an intern at Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) in Richland, Washington.  WRPS is responsible for managing Hanford, Washington’s 56 million gallons of highly radioactive waste and preparing it for delivery to the Waste Treatment Plant.

Bostick served as the Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) & Compliance Intern. She mainly worked with the Project Manager, who focused on improvements within the company.   Bostick was tasked with researching change and change management models. She observed employee behavior as it related to resisting change, compiled information, and presented this information to managers.

During her internship, she learned about using new software, completed a management course, and learned how all systems work together to create positive outcomes at Washington River Protection Solutions. Bostick said, “I enjoyed learning new things and being able to apply some things that I learned to real-life situations.”

The 10-week internship program was made possible through a program the Department of Energy.

Bostick is a sophomore at Coastal Carolina University, Myrtle Beach majoring in business.
