Welcome to MCJROTC
Welcome everyone. My name is First Sergeant (1stSgt) Brian Dear. I am one of the MCJROTC Instructors here at Ridgeland Secondary Academy of Excellence. Let me start off by telling you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in South Florida, which is where I stayed until I joined the Marine Corps in August of 2005. While in the Marine Corps, I served as an aviation electrician, platform instructor, drill instructor, and Company First Sergeant. I officially retired after 20 years of honorable service in August of 2025. I am married to my best friend who I met in the 9th grade, Jennifer. We have been married since January 2008 and we have been blessed with bringing 3 amazing children into this world. Isabella is my oldest, Landon is my middle child, and Jameson is my youngest.
I became a MCJROTC Instructor because I am passionate about the developmental stage of high school students. I believe that this is the most important stage of development. I am also passionate about leadership, which is why I have a degree in Organizational Leadership. Therefore, I decided to combine my two passions and become a MCJROTC Instructor so that I can help lead, guide, and mentor our future leaders. This philosophy applies to all students, regardless if they are in the MCJROTC program and regardless if they want to join the military, go to college, go to a technical school, or go into the workforce after graduating.
I want to make it clear. MCJROTC is a program dedicated to making better leaders with a focus on citizenship. We use the Marine Corps structure to accomplish this task. If you have any questions about the program, please contact me via email.
