Welcome to an exciting new school year! I am looking forward to a wonderful year filled with lots of learning and success. This is my 19th year of teaching. Learning is a journey filled with lots of surprises and discoveries along the way.  My philosophy in education is to instill a love of life-long learning in my students. I am married with two children, a 20-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son. My favorite hobby is reading! Reading is like a journey where you paint the pictures as you read the words and learn new things along the way.  I look forward to working with everyone!

ESOL Class 2020-2021 Virtual Learning

Greetings parents and students! As we get ready to kick off the 2020-2021 school year, please familiarize yourself with the virtual bell schedule. All class content, including expectations, will be posted on my web page. I will also be sending out group emails as well. You may reply to me personally at any time for help with any of your subjects. I am also in the process of building a microsoft teams folder for each ESOL class, where I will have daily virtual videos that are required. I look forward to working with everyone! Please be on the look out for an email before the end of the week with more information so that we are all on the same page before Monday. Attendance is required! I look forward to working with everyone.

Packet - students with no internet.6-12 ESOL Homework

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is safe and well. Since many of our Jaguar families have limited means to access internet, even with Hargray offering free services, it can be difficult if there are too many trees. Therefore, we have created a calendar of activities for students with limited to no means of accessing the internet. Please use the calendar of activities and complete them in lieu of the achieve3000 articles that I have assigned if internet access is a problem. As always, feel free to email or call my google voice number that I posted last week if you have any other questions. Thank you!

Covid-19 Information

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is safe and well. All of my ESOL students who are scheduled for a regular 90-minute block class have been given logins and passwords to utilize Achieve 3000. Achieve 3000 is a great resource to help students work on their reading and writing skills while we are out during this time. I have also notified students that I am available to help with any other coursework outside of ESOL if students experience difficulty. I have provided students the number to call in case they need to reach me immediately. That number is 803-672-0516. Please feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns.

Access Testing

Good afternoon! We are moving right along with Access testing. We are almost finished with the reading portion. Please remember that it is very important to engage each and every question as if it were the only one on the test so that the score can reflect knowledge! We will begin the speaking portion next week. Make sure that you do your best, speak clearly in the microphone, and do not worry about others around you.

Access Testing has begun!

Access testing has officially begun! Please make sure to get plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast, and arrive on time. This is the test that measures the English proficiency in listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Do your best!

Duolingo Language Learning Program

All of our newcomers and beginning English language learners are working on Duolingo, a language learning program online. It can be accessed anywhere from any device, even a phone! It is important to practice as much as possible to establish growth in language skills.

Access Testing Window is open!

Good afternoon! The Access Testing window is now open! We will begin soon. This test assesses the English language learner in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is important to get enough rest and do your best!

After School Program

We have an after school program available every day from 4-5:15 for students who need extra help. Transportation and a snack are provided. I have forms if you would like for your student to attend. I am working at the program so I hope to see you there!

Scholarship opportunity

Attention future college students! Suzannah Blackwell has a scholarship program for you to take advantage of if you are interested in attending college. Applications are now available. Two will be rewarded from North and South Carolina. Apply now! If anyone needs assistance, please see me, Mrs. Bradley. I am happy to help!

Helpful website to work on at home for students

Greetings! As we come closer to the end of course exam testing time, I want to encourage everyone to please take advantage of the USA test prep activities available online. These are very helpful in preparing students for their EOC's. They also count for a grade in many cases. I always encourage my students to take advantage of the opportunity to learn so that they don't get behind. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Here is a photo of the book that we just started today. The students are really enjoying it! It is a very important lesson about diversity and being comfortable in the skin you're in.

Access Testing almost complete!

Greetings! Access testing is almost complete! As we are wrapping up  the testing and moving forward with ACT, EOC, and final exams to wrap up the year, please make sure that we stay on task and all students bring their laptops, fully charged and in the cases, to school every day. We will continue to use One Note in the ESOL class. Also, I am able to help students with USA Test-Prep exercises as needed. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Use your One Note Page!

During Access testing, ESOL students will be in the library. Mrs. Bradley will be testing the duration of the day and testing window, so students will need their devices and access to one note to complete assignments. Please take care of your devices and bring them with you so that you may complete your ESOL work. If you have any questions or concerns, email Mrs. Bradley. Thank you!

Access Testing Coming up in February!

The Access test is coming up in February. Level one students need to be logging on to Duolingo daily. Higher level students need to focus on their reading and writing skills so that they can score high and not have to take the test again next year.
