Michelle Anderson our superintendent Dr Marlin Dee Westbrook our principal faculty and staff it is my honor to welcome each and every one of you to the graduation for the class of 2021 covid-19 have truly impacted our final years at ridgeland-hardeeville High School somebody said it was a bad thing but so many great things came out of the pandemic the class of 2021 were resilient and completed their academic studies despite the pandemic it's been full of countless memories we are proud to share this moment I like to take this moment to thank and welcome my parents and family members that are here to support us in person as well as those viewing has to be a livestream Jaguar nation is always in support of us at the doctor Westbrook faculty and staff we welcome you can celebrate the graduation of an outstanding class and ask that you continue to be an advocate for the class of 2021 thank you at this time we want to pause and reflect on the most beloved father Jaguar dr. Jodi Forman Forman was an inspirational teacher and jaguar family member we will always be indebted to him for the for the life that he had such time please pause for a moment of silence thank you at this time we want to call our principal Dr Marlin Dee Westbrook to introduce of the valedictorian and salutatorian good evening it is with great pleasure that I briefly entered do you a valedictorian and salutatorian of a high school class of 2021 Cambria Brown Cabrera Brown is a salutatorian she is a resident of Hardeeville community and her parent is Miss Kimberly Brown can Brad plans to join the military armed forces the United States of the army where she will study financial management Raleigh valedictorian she is a resident the Richland Community and it's a child of Dennis and Deanna Lynn rally Clemson University paid it in Clemson South Carolina plans to major in both political science and business administration ladies and gentlemen I present to some and introduce to others at salvatorian Cambria Brown and after the recognition of distinguished guests Victoria Hannah Riley in that order special greeting to my friends family teachers and administrators and of course my fellow classmates in a process of writing this speech just about every class mate with whom I came into contact bag me to keep it as short as possible so where my classmates who are here just to get their diploma I would try to the shortest possible before I start I want to give a shout out to the underclassmen in the crowd trust me I know how you feel three years of having to watch class after class walked by and moved this little tassel thing from side to side it was quite frustrating but I promise before you know what this will be you right up until the last moment before the final bell ring it will feel like an eternity so hang in there the foremost I would like to begin by expressing my gratitude to everyone that has helped me to be in the place that I am today thank you to my mother for being my number one supporter you always there when I needed you with no questions asked thank you to my friends for being with me not only at my highest points in life but my lowest is well thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone and making life 10 times better in a small town of Richland thank you to my teachers and coaches for creating a welcome welcoming and creative atmosphere and for putting in full effort to make me and my classmates exceed last we thank you God for teaching me how to love myself and for real for me me with the fact that no one else opinion except yours thank you for constantly reassuring me that you had a plan and that everything has a purpose thank you for keeping me grounded and for providing me with the endless love and support through both difficult and joyful times now to the class of 2021 is Kamala Harris once said we did it we did it Joe no in all seriousness we did it class of 2020 even if it meant completing over in the midst of Miss Rona however I think our class was the most equipped to handle the limitations this pandemic brought and we brought nothing but success these successes would not have been possible without the strength and Preserve in Savoy although this pandemic or panoramic as some of you say prevented us from participating in some activities it showed us the act of sacrifice as we enter this next stage of our life we must not indulge and forget about the sacrifices that we made to get us to where we are but we must use them as stepping stone propellers for ultimate goes the actress has not be used as a one-time occurrence but it must be a virtue that is in better than Twilight house in order to succeed we must recognize the fact that there is no easy way out and the obstacles are bound to follow us lastly I want to congratulate this class my class or handling this year with the leadership and Village that made it possible for us to be here it is because of our combined sacrifices and efforts that we possibly have been one of the history for unforgettable we did it Regina Jenkins will not come before you with the recognition of invited guests District administration Westbrook our illustrious principal Dr Westbrook and to all faculty doctor Anderson and to all the faculty and staff members of ridgeland-hardeeville high school and thank you to all the family members and friends who are here in support of the graduating class of twenty I am honored and humbled to be here tonight as the class valedictorian as we share this moment together this is a very special day for all of us and one that I haven't waited so anxiously because they told me I would have to give a speech in front of everybody I know but here I am here you all are ready to seize this moment I would like to start off by giving thanks to all of the teachers that help make this moment possible for us all to those teachers that gave us their own divided attention their knowledge their patience and willingness to devote themselves to a job that doesn't just end at the end of the work day but goes home with them to those teachers I would like to say thank you thank you for everything you have done for us and for all of your patience as you saw us through to this day I would like to say a special thank you to my teachers who have consistently been in my life for these past four years and have been like family gunny Mitsubishi and I would like to say a special tribute to our beloved mr. Forman who was so profoundly dedicated that he continued to teach us even from his hospital bed as he chemotherapy you will surely be missed we love you mr. Forman I would like to add a special I've got it dude to miss Ruby no end to mr. Riley who have consistently showed their dedication and love to the students of the school and now I would like to acknowledge my family to my dad Dennis Riley thank you for your support for our family by working so hard to my siblings and her husband Mick Joseph Rose and her husband Micah to my little sister Candice I love you all so much you are part of my life my joy and my journey and before I get into my main topic I need to say the most special thank you to my favorite teacher now and forever to my mom I would like to say the biggest thank you to you Mom you have been and always will be my favorite teacher without you I would be where I am today you have shown me more love patience and dedication than anyone thank you mom for being my sister and now to the cost of 2021 wow what a year it has been what started out as a shocking reality over a year ago we stand here today together and stronger than ever to finish out this chapter of Our Lives as I stand here tonight and each one of your faces I see the multitude of possibilities and the opportunities that await each one of you as I stand here I also realize that this is the first time some of you have even seen me I don't know my story and that is why I would like to fill you in on a few aspects of my life that I hope will inspire you and give you hope and what the future can hold for you as well my message for you on this very special occasion comes from an old saying it's not where you come from it's where you're going that counts don't repeat that it's not where you come from it's where you're going that counts you see a 12 years ago I was living in an orphanage with my little sister and the land of my birth and Ethiopia Africa we have just everything we have ever had I had no home no parents I have no positions of any kind 12 years 12 years ago not speak one word of English and by the blessing of God himself we were adopted into an American family I was been home-schooled until 9th grade when I then entered Public School I stand before you this evening to tell you that each and every one of you was also blessed by the grace of God you are here in the United States of America where you're able to accomplish anything that you are willing to go after regard your life as a precious gift consider your opportunities and cherish the possibilities wake up each and every morning and challenge yourself to imagine the difference one person can make for the good of our world if covid-19 has taught us anything it taught us that we can hope for a better tomorrow with patience and perseverance with Focus and drive to solve what is before us to overcome I challenge each and every one of you tonight to imagine your unique pet and what you will bring forth into a world that called upon each and every one of us to shine I challenge you to look forward to your bright and successful future do not let the failures your past dictate the success of your tomorrows instead except the future as a challenge worth accepting to those of us who had no control over our difficulties pain and suffering don't let that which was out of our control control us now it's our turn it's our time to take control and to navigate our future my mom tells me all the time don't look in the rear-view mirror for too long instead look ahead down the road and imagine your great success I would like to ask God to bless as I conclude my speech the Lord bless you and keep you the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace let me end by saying I believe in you and I am so proud of all of your accomplishments and I am so proud to be a part of the graduating class of region Hardeeville High School 2021 thank you and God bless y'all can do better than that that wasn't in the script so inspiring greetings dr. Anderson a Board of Trustees I'll district office staff original Hardeeville High School staff other Jasper County School District employees a student's a family member's a friend of stakeholders of Jasper County School District and especially to our honorees of this afternoon Jaguar class of 2021 we should celebrate today because we have over 130 students leaving the Jaguars game who are prepared who are prepared to be tomorrow's leaders already citizens the school counselors senior advisors administrative staff and other stakeholders along without parents or Guardians have worked very very hard with this class despite the pain they have been resilient best of all this is my first graduating class as principal of resin heart of Ohio and I am indeed elated and so very very excited I have a few special presentations at this time each year we recognize to Jaguars for their service and commitment to our school with a class like this it was difficult to make these choices as we have many and I do mean many who have exhibited Jaguar Pride daily the Jaguar Spirit leadership award is for a student who exemplifies great character and Leadership skills at all times they're not concerned about the spotlight but they have school pride and walk daily hydrating that Pride the first recipient has been instrumental to the success of our leadership program she contributes Atlas hours to our school without any hesitation she's always a joy to have around she actively participates in school as well as extracurricular activities this year's Jaguar Spirit leadership award goes to an extraordinary young lady latasia Hargrove please don't bother thank you Lakeisha Hargrove the next recipient is an excellent Jaguar contributor everyone on campus knows this student in class and around he is well mannered and always works in the community there is so much we could say about this young man we'll be here all night he's very respectful and respected among all of the students this year's final recipient is non other than Mister Justin Jones please come forward in the middle thank you mr. Justin Jones you are truly a delight I believe you that wasn't in the script a Jaguar dealership Rewards available on Tuesday because you will have a trophy okay we've all been waiting for this is the main reason why I stand in front of all of you Miss Evans and mr. Raley please take you places class of 2021 please stand it's a great day in Jasper County y'all we are extremely proud of your accomplishments you should be proud as well give yourselves a hand it is my hope that you will continue to do the same as you've done here to prepare to be tomorrow's leaders enter into adulthood and begin to make a difference in This Global Society this class as of yesterday was awarded / 2.1 million dollars installer ships that's a great accomplishment in the middle of a pandemic Miss Casey will be announcing those shortly the family of Jasper County School District believes in you and we are so very optimistic about your future again you are so very resilient dr. Anderson please come forward to a superintendent dr. Westbrook at this time we will have met Cynthia Hasty I seen your counselor whose work very hard without seniors to come up and share with you the scholarship information and awards good evening the protocol has been established congratulations to the class of 2021 remember be bold be courageous and be your best wherever you go go with all of your heart and if opportunity doesn't knock build a door additional scholarship Awards new Delta Omega alumna different chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority Incorporated is a warning Cambria Brown $1,000 in scholarships Colonel Lester Newton Memorial Scholarship is awarded Kalo Ralph $2,000 Devin cotton is awarded and $50,000 for the United States Army and also on a side note we would like to thank Sergeant Marvin baton for working closely with us because he brought to my attention that those students that are joining the United States armed forces you each will be getting $150,000 in scholarships and awards so what's all the time all with Miss Corona as Kim Brea has so eloquently said your total and scholarships Awards and Grant is two point is over 2.1 million dollars thank you and give yourselves a hand at this time a School alma mater will be led by tomorrow Cunningham followed by the benediction by terrica Garvin and as I graduate in platform guess recessed please know that your graduate must report directly to the multi-purpose room for their items that are issues with their diploma John you outside shortly thereafter when we are dismissed please exit the building as we are still under social distancing guidelines on iCampus oh ridgeland-hardeeville high closest hospital everyone please stand May blessings follow you all as your final journey to travel may you walk safely along the pathways of your dreams always receive guidance for the decisions you make and the passion that you follow your hearts and laughs all your fake love and truth and hope it may help be a light within you that you carry into each new day at this time a Podium will lead us out of the gym and then I students will be behind that are you ready
